Commending Mary Gresham.

WHEREAS, Mary Gresham, manager of custodial services with Richmond Public Schools, has greatly served the Richmond community as an employee with Richmond Public Schools for 40 years; and
WHEREAS, Mary Gresham graduated from Henrico High School and later earned a bachelor's degree in human resources management and services from the University of Richmond; she also recently became a certified custodial supervisor through the International Sanitary Supply Association's Cleaning Management Institute; and
WHEREAS, Mary Gresham began her career with Richmond Public Schools in 1986 as a custodian at Swansboro Elementary School; through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, she steadily advanced within the school division; and
WHEREAS, Mary Gresham's dedication to creating positive learning environments and supporting student success became evident early in her career and has remained a driving force throughout her professional journey; and
WHEREAS, after years of service, Mary Gresham transitioned into education and spent 16 years teaching at the Richmond Technical Center, where she inspired students through hands-on learning experiences and practical skill development; and
WHEREAS, Mary Gresham's commitment to student achievement earned her recognition as Teacher of the Year in both 2011 and 2015, as she became known for her ability to motivate students, foster their confidence, and prepare them for successful futures; and
WHEREAS, Mary Gresham joined Richmond Public Schools' Facility Services team in May 2020 and was promoted in June 2021 to manager of custodial services, overseeing operations that help ensure safe, clean, and welcoming learning environments for students and staff throughout the division; and
WHEREAS, throughout her nearly four decades of service, Mary Gresham has remained committed to excellence, leadership, and community involvement; whether serving as a custodian, educator, supervisor, or manager, she has consistently demonstrated a passion for making a difference, and her impact on Richmond Public Schools and the Richmond community will be felt for generations to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Mary Gresham hereby be commended for her 40 years of exemplary service with Richmond Public Schools; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mary Gresham as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her contributions to Richmond and the Commonwealth.
