SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2063

Commending Fancy.



Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Fancy, a 38-year-old American Quarter Horse in Aldie, was officially named the world's oldest living horse by Guinness World Records in 2026; and

WHEREAS, born on April 1, 1988, Fancy, who is also known by her registered name, Tracies Lil Kleberg, has been with her owner, Paige Sigmon Blumer, for nearly three decades; and

WHEREAS, Paige Sigmon Blumer first met Fancy when the horse was known as Josey Wales at a training facility in the Commonwealth in the 1990s; and

WHEREAS, Paige Sigmon Blumer was eight years old and beginning to compete as an equestrian when her family purchased the 12-year-old horse in June 2000 and renamed her Fancy; and

WHEREAS, Fancy's extraordinary health and vitality are testaments to the loving and attentive care she has received over the years from her owners, trainers, and veterinarians; and

WHEREAS, despite facing health challenges, such as Cushing's disease and limited vision, Fancy continues to remain active and capable of taking daily walks around the farm she calls home; and

WHEREAS, Fancy and her owners celebrated her 38th birthday on April 1, 2026, a fitting occasion to reflect upon the horse's achievement and the profound impact she has had on so many lives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Fancy, a beloved horse from Aldie, hereby be commended for being named the world's oldest living horse by Guinness World Records; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Paige Sigmon Blumer, owner of Fancy, as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the horse's strength and longevity, which has brought great pride to the Commonwealth.
