HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2206

Commending the Virginia District of the United Holy Church of America, Inc.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 29, 2026

WHEREAS, the Virginia District of the United Holy Church of America, Inc., was organized in 1969 to unite congregations across the Commonwealth in worship, fellowship, and service and has faithfully served Virginia communities for more than five decades; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia District was established under the leadership of Bishop W. N. Strobhar and Bishop Thomas E. Talley, who guided the planning and organization of the Virginia District and convened its first official session on January 1, 1969, in Newport News; and

WHEREAS, the first Virginia District Convocation was held in August 1969 in Portsmouth and Newport News, bringing together churches from across the Commonwealth and laying the foundation for continued growth and ministry; and

WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Virginia District has provided spiritual leadership, religious education, fellowship, and community outreach through its member congregations, thereby strengthening communities and advancing the mission of the United Holy Church of America, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia District has been blessed by the leadership of numerous clergy and lay leaders whose dedication has fostered growth, service, and ministry throughout the Commonwealth and beyond; and

WHEREAS, through decades of faithful service, the Virginia District has nurtured generations of believers and promoted Christian discipleship, leadership development, and community engagement; and

WHEREAS, under the current leadership of Bishop Johnnie B. Felton, the Virginia District continues its mission of serving congregations, supporting communities, and sharing the Gospel; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Virginia District of the United Holy Church of America, Inc., hereby be commended for its longstanding service to the Commonwealth and its contributions to faith, fellowship, and community leadership; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia District of the United Holy Church of America, Inc., as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the Virginia District's enduring commitment to ministry and service.
