HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2203

Commending the Bruton High School boys' tennis team.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 29, 2026

WHEREAS, the Bruton High School boys' tennis team of Williamsburg won the Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship at Liberty University in Lynchburg on June 11, 2026; and

WHEREAS, the Bruton High School Panthers defeated the Floyd County High School Buffaloes by a team score of 5–2 to clinch the state championship title; and

WHEREAS, the Bruton Panthers jumped to a 4–2 advantage following the singles portion of the contest as Christoph Schweitzer, Alek Rivera, Noah Praszczalek, and Tiernan Bradley won their matches; and

WHEREAS, the Bruton Panthers claimed the state championship title after the first doubles match of the day as Christoph Schweitzer and Alek Rivera won handily by a score of 6-1, 6-1; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Bruton Panthers are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coach and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Bruton High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Bruton High School boys' tennis team hereby be commended for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to James Barr, head coach of the Bruton High School boys' tennis team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
