HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2194

Commending ArtsFairfax.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, ArtsFairfax, a nonprofit organization representing more than 200 arts organizations across Fairfax County, celebrates the fifth anniversary of its Community Arts Partnership program in 2026; and

WHEREAS, ArtsFairfax has served as Fairfax County's designated local arts agency since 1964, championing the arts as a vital component of a thriving and connected community while supporting artists, arts organizations, and residents through advocacy, funding, and cultural programming; and

WHEREAS, for more than six decades, ArtsFairfax has strengthened the cultural fabric of Northern Virginia by fostering access to the arts, encouraging artistic excellence, and promoting the economic and educational benefits that the arts bring to communities throughout Fairfax County; and

WHEREAS, in 2021, ArtsFairfax partnered with Capital One Hall to launch the Community Arts Partnership program, an innovative initiative designed to expand opportunities for local nonprofit arts organizations to perform, rehearse, and engage audiences in a world-class venue; and

WHEREAS, through subsidized rental rates, box office services, production support, and access to premier performance spaces, ArtsFairfax's Community Arts Partnership program has helped remove barriers that often limit nonprofit arts organizations from presenting high-quality performances and programs; and

WHEREAS, during its first five years, ArtsFairfax's Community Arts Partnership program has enabled numerous local nonprofit arts organizations to showcase their talents, reach new audiences, and enrich the cultural life of Fairfax County and the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Community Arts Partnership program reflects the shared commitment of ArtsFairfax, Capital One Hall, community leaders, donors, artists, volunteers, and nonprofit organizations to ensuring that the arts remain accessible, vibrant, and inclusive for all residents; and

WHEREAS, on July 14, 2026, ArtsFairfax and Capital One Hall will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Community Arts Partnership program with a special reception recognizing the many nonprofit arts organizations that have benefited from the program and highlighting those that will participate in the upcoming season; and

WHEREAS, this milestone celebration provides an opportunity to honor the lasting impact of the Community Arts Partnership program and to recognize the important role that ArtsFairfax continues to play in advancing the arts and culture throughout Fairfax County; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That ArtsFairfax hereby be commended on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Community Arts Partnership program; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to ArtsFairfax as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its accomplishments and best wishes for its continued success in enriching the cultural life of the Commonwealth.
