HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2193

Commending Chuck McNerlin.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Chuck McNerlin, a captain in the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, has served communities in Southwest Virginia as a law-enforcement officer for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, Chuck McNerlin began his career in law enforcement with the Department of Corrections at Keen Mountain Correctional Center in 1991; and

WHEREAS, in June 2000, Chuck McNerlin joined the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office and was promoted to lieutenant while working in the county jail; and

WHEREAS, Chuck McNerlin subsequently transitioned to the patrol division of the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office, where he served and safeguarded members of the public and strengthened the Tazewell County community through his professionalism and integrity; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his leadership and dedication to duty, Chuck McNerlin continued to rise through the ranks of the Tazewell County Sheriff's Office and ultimately achieved the rank of captain; and

WHEREAS, over the course of his distinguished career, Chuck McNerlin has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public safety and a passion for service that inspired his colleagues and members of the public alike; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Chuck McNerlin hereby be commended for his 35 years of service as a law-enforcement officer; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chuck McNerlin as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his professional achievements and contributions to the residents of Tazewell County.
