HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2169
Celebrating the life of Donald Edgar Walker.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026
WHEREAS, Donald Edgar Walker, a dedicated public servant, respected magistrate, and cherished member of the Loudoun community left a lasting impact on the community he served; and
WHEREAS, Donald Edgar Walker was born on June 20 in Austria, arriving into the world on the longest day of the year; and
WHEREAS, throughout his life, Donald Walker worked to preserve and strengthen the character of his community, including by carrying out restoration work on historic log cabins and other structures in the area; and
WHEREAS, Donald Walker was an early champion of solar energy and energy upgrades in the community; he supported efforts that brought new infrastructure to the area, including the installation of the first cell phone tower serving the community; and
WHEREAS, Donald Walker was first appointed as a magistrate for the 20th Judicial Circuit in April 1992; he was subsequently reappointed, taking his final oath of office in this capacity on December 21, 2001; and
WHEREAS, Donald Walker served as a magistrate during a period of tremendous growth and change in Loudoun County; between 1992 and 2002, the county's population increased from 94,304 to 203,567, an increase of approximately 115 percent during that period; and
WHEREAS, as Loudoun County experienced this dramatic growth, the demands placed on the magistrate's office for criminal warrants, criminal cases, protective orders, and civil domestic relations matters rose significantly, and it was under these demanding circumstances that Donald Walker diligently, faithfully, and impartially served the people of Loudoun County as a magistrate; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his judicial service, Donald Walker was involved in the community and local economy and worked with the Rural Economic Development Committee; he was also a strong advocate for environmental protection, leading efforts to restore clean water in Paeonian Springs; and
WHEREAS, Donald Walker took pride in his heritage as a descendant of the Echota Cherokee Tribe of Alabama; and
WHEREAS, Donald Walker will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by numerous family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Donald Edgar Walker, a cherished member of the Loudoun community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Donald Edgar Walker as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
