HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2158
Celebrating the life of C. Wayne Stevens.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026
WHEREAS, C. Wayne Stevens of Meadowview, a distinguished public servant and youth mentor in Washington County, died on May 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Wayne Stevens made his career as a firefighter with Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, Tennessee, demonstrating courage and an unwavering commitment to safety over the course of 20 years of service; and
WHEREAS, outside of his career, Wayne Stevens supported young people as a Scoutmaster, helping countless youth develop leadership skills and an appreciation for the importance of community service; and
WHEREAS, among his proudest achievements, Wayne Stevens represented the Monroe District on the Washington County Board of Supervisors and worked diligently to enhance the quality of life for all of his fellow county residents; and
WHEREAS, serving in his third term at the time of his passing, Wayne Stevens inspired others through his approachable leadership style and commitment to advancing the public good; and
WHEREAS, Wayne Stevens will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved wife, Sharon; his sons, Charles III and James, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of C. Wayne Stevens; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of C. Wayne Stevens as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
