HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2155

Commending the Abingdon High School softball team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, the Abingdon High School softball team capped off an undefeated season by securing the team's first-ever state title with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2026; and

WHEREAS, the Abingdon High School Falcons were dominant throughout the season, winning the Mountain 7 District championship and the Region D championship on the road to the state tournament; and

WHEREAS, in the state final, the Abingdon Falcons racked up seven runs before the defending champions from Broadway High School could even get on the board and ultimately won by a score of 7–3; and

WHEREAS, despite being one of the smaller schools in Class 3, the Abingdon Falcons, who finished with a 29–0 overall record, quickly became known for their powerful offense, staunch defense, and exceptional pitching; and

WHEREAS, the victorious season was a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the unwavering support of the entire Abingdon High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Abingdon High School softball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2026; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chelsea Campbell, head coach of the Abingdon High School softball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's historic achievements and best wishes for the future.
