HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2151

Commending Kierlyn Sherman.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Kierlyn Sherman, a distinguished lifetime member of the Girl Scouts of the USA, received the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting, for her innovative peer leadership and adult leader training program; and

WHEREAS, Kierlyn “Kitty” Sherman is a life member of the Girl Scouts of the USA and an alumna of Girl Scout Troop 5103 and Trailblazer Troop 2101 in the Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, between 2022 and 2026, Kitty Sherman completed all requirements for the Girl Scout Gold Award, dedicating more than 80 hours to the development and implementation of a peer leadership training program for girls across the Commonwealth and beyond; in addition to personally delivering the training, she created and conducted a train the trainer program for adult Girl Scout leaders, ensuring the program's continued impact and sustainability; and

WHEREAS, leadership has long been a central focus of Kitty Sherman's service; she has earned every leadership award available within Girl Scouting and received multiple leadership recognitions during her time in the Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at Tucker High School; and

WHEREAS, previously, as part of her Girl Scout Silver Award project, Project GiGi (Government Is for Girls), Kitty Sherman interviewed women serving in government and public service and published profiles and blogs designed to inspire middle school and high school girls to increase their civic engagement and pursue leadership opportunities; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Kierlyn Sherman, recipient of the Girl Scout Gold Award, hereby be commended for her contributions to empowering girls and young women through leadership development; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kierlyn Sherman as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her achievements in service to Girl Scouts in the Commonwealth and beyond.
