HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2145

Commending Charles Ridgeway Schuyler III.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Charles Ridgeway Schuyler III, Dean of Student Support and Community Partnerships and director of Network2Work at Piedmont Virginia Community College, has made a positive and lasting impact in the Charlottesville community over many years; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Virginia School of Law, Charles “Ridge” Schuyler III began his career in public service on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., where he developed a deep and nuanced understanding of the intersection between policy and economic development and the importance of cross-sector collaboration; and

WHEREAS, in 2011, Ridge Schuyler authored the Orange Dot Report, a pioneering studying of the local economic issues affecting Charlottesville families, which inspired him to found the Charlottesville Works Initiative, a partnership between the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce and Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC); and

WHEREAS, Ridge Schuyler's Charlottesville Works Initiative grew to become Network2Work at PVCC, an innovative and dynamic system that unites job seekers, employers, and providers to help individuals secure gainful and fulfilling employment; and

WHEREAS, as the result of Ridge Schuyler's leadership, expertise, and unwavering commitment, numerous participants in the Network2Work program have secured employment and increased their income; and

WHEREAS, by enhancing the economic mobility of individuals and families throughout the Greater Charlottesville area, Ridge Schuyler has helped to make the region a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Charles Ridgeway Schuyler III, Dean of Student Support and Community Partnerships and director of Network2Work at Piedmont Virginia Community College, hereby be commended for his efforts in support of the residents and families of the Greater Charlottesville region; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Charles Ridgeway Schuyler III as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his legacy of service and best wishes for his continued success.
