HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2139

Commending the New Kent High School baseball team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, on June 13, 2026, the New Kent High School baseball team claimed its second state title in three years with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship; and

WHEREAS, the New Kent High School Trojans defeated the Turner Ashby High School Knights by a score of 8–3, capping off a 12-game win streak to finish the season with an impressive 25–2 record; and

WHEREAS, in the state final, the New Kent Trojans took an early 1–0 lead in the bottom of the first inning, and although the Turner Ashby Knights equalized in the top of the second inning, New Kent's explosive offense came alive in the bottom of the second inning to score five more runs; and

WHEREAS, the New Kent Trojans never looked back, adding two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to seal the win; and

WHEREAS, the victorious season was a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff members, and the unwavering support of friends, family members, and the entire New Kent High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the New Kent High School baseball team hereby be commended on winning the Virginia High School League Class 3 state championship in 2026; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Trevor Ronan, head coach of the New Kent High School baseball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
