HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2134

Commending the James Madison High School girls' lacrosse team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, the James Madison High School girls' lacrosse team completed a remarkable 2026 season by winning the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and

WHEREAS, throughout the season, the James Madison High School Warhawks demonstrated exceptional talent, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, establishing themselves as one of the premier girls lacrosse programs in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the James Madison Warhawks captured the Concorde District championship and the Region D championship, earning the opportunity to compete for the state title; and

WHEREAS, the James Madison Warhawks advanced through a challenging postseason schedule with impressive victories over Washington-Liberty High School, Yorktown High School, Westfield High School, and Mountain View High School; and

WHEREAS, in the state final, the James Madison Warhawks defeated the Battlefield High School Bobcats to claim the state title and secure the program's first state championship since 2013; and

WHEREAS, the success of the James Madison Warhawks was the result of the hard work and dedication of its student-athletes, who devoted countless hours to training, competition, and supporting one another in pursuit of a common goal; and

WHEREAS, the James Madison Warhawks were guided by a dedicated coaching staff, whose leadership, commitment, and emphasis on sportsmanship helped foster an environment in which the student-athletes could excel both on the field and in the classroom; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the James Madison Warhawks brought great pride and distinction to James Madison High School, the Town of Vienna, and Fairfax County, reflecting the values of excellence, determination, and community spirit that define Virginia high school athletics; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the James Madison High School girls' lacrosse team hereby be commended on winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the James Madison High School girls' lacrosse team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's outstanding achievements and best wishes for continued success.
