HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2131
Commending Marvin Fields.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026
WHEREAS, Marvin Fields, pastor of Second Mount Zion Baptist Church in Caroline County, which celebrates its 160th anniversary in 2026, has greatly served his congregation and community for more than 25 years; and
WHEREAS, after accepting Jesus Christ at Evangel Baptist Church in Laurelton, New York, at the age of 18, Marvin Fields began his work as a spiritual leader in 1973 as a deacon and became a licensed minister six years later; and
WHEREAS, Marvin Fields and his family later relocated to Caroline County in 1988, and he ultimately took on the role as pastor of Second Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he has provided uplifting spiritual guidance for a quarter century; and
WHEREAS, Marvin Fields has spearheaded various ministries, events, and educational initiatives at Second Mount Zion Baptist Church to help its members grow in their faith and to thrive in service to the church and others; and
WHEREAS, Marvin Fields worked tirelessly for several years as an employee with the Department of Juvenile Justice, guiding and supporting young people in need of a greater sense of purpose and direction in their lives; and
WHEREAS, with love, compassion, and humility, Marvin Fields has demonstrated exceptional servant leadership and made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Marvin Fields, pastor of Second Mount Zion Baptist Church, hereby be commended on the occasion of his church's 160th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Marvin Fields as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his legacy of service to his congregation, his community, and the Commonwealth.
