HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2112

Commending Alexandria City Public Schools' scholarship award recipients.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, in the 2025–2026 school year, six students in Alexandria City Public Schools received college scholarships to prestigious institutions of higher education; and

WHEREAS, The Posse Foundation presented scholarships to Christopher Cabrera, who will attend Bucknell University, Isabel Craine, who will attend the University of Virginia, and Mohammad Elyas Noorzai, who will attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and

WHEREAS, in addition to their scholarships, The Posse Foundation will also provide these students with comprehensive programmatic support over their next four years in college; and

WHEREAS, Christabel Ellis was selected by the QuestBridge National College Match Program as a QuestBridge Scholar and was awarded a full-ride scholarship, including room and board as well as tuition, to the University of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, Darwin Flores Salazar received the Northern Virginia Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award and scholarship and will attend Virginia Commonwealth University; and

WHEREAS, Gaetanina Verhoeven received the Pamplin Leadership Award from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, which includes a one-year, academic merit-based scholarship to the institution; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Alexandria City Public Schools' recipients of scholarship awards hereby be commended for their hard work and dedication to their studies; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Alexandria City Public Schools' recipients of scholarship awards as an expression of the House of Delegates' heartfelt congratulations and best wishes in their future endeavors.
