Commending Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc., a respected construction firm headquartered in Winchester, celebrates the remarkable milestone of its 130th anniversary in 2026; and

WHEREAS, founded in 1896, Howard Shockey & Sons has grown from a small, family-run enterprise into one of the most trusted and accomplished construction companies in the Commonwealth while maintaining its commitment to quality craftsmanship, integrity, and community service; and

WHEREAS, for more than a century, Howard Shockey & Sons has played a vital role in shaping the built environment of the Commonwealth and beyond, contributing to the construction of schools, government buildings, senior living campuses, health care facilities, commercial buildings, and vital infrastructure that serve generations of Virginians; and

WHEREAS, through its longevity and continued success, Howard Shockey & Sons exemplifies the strength of the Commonwealth's small business heritage and the enduring value of family leadership, innovation, and adaptability in a changing economy; and

WHEREAS, Howard Shockey & Sons has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to its employees, fostering a culture of professionalism, safety, and opportunity, while supporting workforce development and contributing to the broader economy; and

WHEREAS, Howard Shockey & Sons has been a dedicated community partner, supporting charitable organizations, civic initiatives, and local institutions, thereby enriching the quality of life in the Winchester area and throughout the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the 130th anniversary of Howard Shockey & Sons offers a fitting opportunity to recognize the company's enduring legacy, its contributions to the Commonwealth's economic vitality, and its continued role as a leader in the construction industry; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc., hereby be commended on the occasion of its 130th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc., as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its legacy of excellence and service to the Commonwealth.
