HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2099

Commending the Heritage High School girls' track and field program.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, in June 2026, the Heritage High School girls' track and field program of Lynchburg secured its fifth consecutive state title with a victory at the Virginia High School League Class 3 outdoor track and field state championship; and

WHEREAS, since 2024, the Heritage High School Pioneers have won three consecutive outdoor track and field state championships with two consecutive indoor track and field championships in between; and

WHEREAS, at the 2026 outdoor state championship, the Heritage Pioneers earned 106 points and eclipsed the competition, with even the second-place team receiving less than half that total; and

WHEREAS, Heritage High School's Jaliah Porter won the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, three and 3/4 inches, followed by teammates Briyonna Tune in second place and Eliana Bradner in third place; and

WHEREAS, Eliana Bradner finished first in two individual events, winning the 100-meter hurdles in 14 seconds to set a new state meet record and the 300-meter hurdles in 43.32 seconds; and

WHEREAS, the Heritage Pioneers also won the 4x100 relay event and the 4x400 relay event; in total, the team had five first-place finishes and 13 other top-six finishes over the course of the championship; and

WHEREAS, the victorious season was a tribute to the skill and determination of all the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of coaches and staff, and the unwavering support of family members, friends, and the entire Heritage High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Heritage High School girls' track and field program hereby be commended on winning five consecutive state championships, including the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 3 outdoor track and field state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Heritage High School girls' track and field program as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the achievements of all the student-athletes involved and best wishes for continued success.
