HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2086
Commending Ramoth Baptist Church.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026
WHEREAS, for 160 years, Ramoth Baptist Church in Stafford County has been a beacon of hope, love, and faith in the community, making an impact in the lives of countless individuals and families; and
WHEREAS, Ramoth Baptist Church was founded in 1866, shortly after the end of the Civil War, creating a community dedicated to worship and fellowship as its members navigated a tumultuous time; and
WHEREAS, Ramoth Baptist Church's membership continued to grow and thrive over the years, requiring the continual expansion of the church's building and grounds to accommodate this blossoming community; and
WHEREAS, Ramoth Baptist Church has been guided since its founding by a distinguished line of faith leaders, including its current senior pastor, the Reverend Dr. Richard Harrell; and
WHEREAS, Ramoth Baptist Church hosts a number of ministries, as well as Sunday school and Bible studies, to help its members make meaningful community connections and flourish in their faith; and
WHEREAS, the members of Ramoth Baptist Church give generously of their time and resources for the benefit of the community through a number of outreach activities and fundraising initiatives; and
WHEREAS, over the past 160 years, Ramoth Baptist Church has been a spiritual refuge for its members, who have found strength, solace, and a deeper sense of purpose within its walls; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Ramoth Baptist Church hereby be commended on the occasion of its 160th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Reverend Dr. Richard Harrell, senior pastor of Ramoth Baptist Church, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the church's history and service.
