Commending Bishop Michael B. Golden, Jr.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Bishop Michael B. Golden, Jr., has strengthened the Hampton community by providing outstanding spiritual leadership as pastor of Greater Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Golden grew up in Newport News, where he began to cultivate his deep faith at a young age; he subsequently earned a master's degree in divinity from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology of Virginia Union University and dedicated his life to preaching and teaching; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Golden's sermons are characterized by their eloquence and sincerity, and he has captivated audiences nationwide through his profound insights into scripture; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Golden guides Greater Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ with a vision for community empowerment, spiritual renewal, and social justice advocacy; under his leadership, the church has experienced remarkable growth, both in membership and outreach initiatives, serving as a beacon of hope and transformation within the local community; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Golden's dedication to community development is central to his mission philosophy, and he works tirelessly to provide affordable housing and social services through initiatives like the GET Empowered Community Development Corporation; and

WHEREAS, beyond his pastoral duties, Bishop Golden is a respected leader within the Church of God in Christ, holding various positions at the local, state, and national levels; and

WHEREAS, in all aspects of his life and ministry, Bishop Golden remains steadfast in his commitment to spreading the gospel and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Bishop Michael B. Golden, Jr., hereby be commended for his service as pastor of Greater Emmanuel Temple Church of God in Christ in Hampton; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bishop Michael B. Golden, Jr., as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his legacy of servant leadership.
