HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2076

Commending Hank Partin.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Hank Partin, a distinguished veteran and experienced law-enforcement officer, retired as sheriff of Montgomery County on April 1, 2026, having dedicated more than 30 years of his career to serving and protecting the Montgomery County community; and

WHEREAS, prior to his law-enforcement career, Hank Partin served the nation in uniform as a member of the United States Army, achieving the rank of sergeant major; and

WHEREAS, Hank Partin joined the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in December 1993 and served the community as a sworn officer for 20 years, building strong relationships with members of the public and becoming a trusted source of institutional knowledge within the department; and

WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service, Hank Partin ran for and was elected as sheriff of Montgomery County in 2015; he earned the admiration of his fellow law-enforcement officers and community members for his professionalism and integrity and was reelected in 2019 and 2023; and

WHEREAS, among his many achievements as sheriff, Hank Partin oversaw an expansion of the school resource officer program from four officers to 13 officers, as well as two additional high-ranking officers assigned to the school district, significantly increasing student safety; and

WHEREAS, Hank Partin also worked to ensure that the officers under his command had the best possible equipment and training, allowing them to better serve and protect the public; he guided enhancements to the department's SWAT team, including the acquisition of a new armored vehicle; and

WHEREAS, Hank Partin left the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office well poised to meet the challenges of the future through his visionary leadership and commitment to excellence; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Hank Partin hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement as sheriff of Montgomery County; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Hank Partin as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his visionary leadership in law enforcement and legacy of service to the Montgomery County community.
