Commending Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP.
Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026
WHEREAS, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, a law firm deeply rooted in the Commonwealth, where its Richmond office continues to play a central role in the firm's growth and evolution alongside the region's financial services, manufacturing, and innovation economy, celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2026; and
WHEREAS, established in Richmond in 1901, Hunton Andrews Kurth is recognized for its strengths in financial services, commercial litigation and appellate work, energy and infrastructure, and real estate; the firm has helped generations of clients navigate complex regulations, high-stakes matters, and transformative transactions; and
WHEREAS, Hunton Andrews Kurth has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to communities in the Commonwealth, supporting organizations such as Feed More, United Way, and Change the World RVA, and making significant contributions to longstanding institutions, including the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, the Richmond Symphony, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Commonwealth University; and
WHEREAS, Hunton Andrews Kurth has supported the legal community through its work with the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Bar Association, and the Richmond Bar Association; and
WHEREAS, the legacy of pro bono service at Hunton Andrews Kurth is especially evident in the Commonwealth, where the Richmond office has become a leader in providing legal assistance to underserved Virginians, including through initiatives focused on veterans' issues, guardianship, and nonprofit support, and collaborations with local legal aid, courts, and community groups; and
WHEREAS, Hunton Andrews Kurth has operated a dedicated pro bono office in Richmond's Church Hill neighborhood since 1990, increasing access to legal services for low-income families in the community and providing a hub for pro bono initiatives throughout Central Virginia; and
WHEREAS, Hunton Andrews Kurth's commitment to pro bono work is further exemplified by its Pro Bono Fellow program, which enables talented attorneys to work full time on public interest and legal aid matters in Richmond and across the Commonwealth, strengthening the firm's impact in addressing critical needs in housing, veterans' rights, and civil legal access; and
WHEREAS, Hunton Andrews Kurth's Richmond lawyers and staff have consistently contributed thousands of pro bono hours annually, ensuring equal access to justice and upholding the firm's values of community investment and legal excellence; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP hereby be commended for its enduring contributions to the legal profession, service to Virginians, and the advancement of pro bono service across the Commonwealth on the occasion of its 125th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the firm's ongoing commitment to leadership in the legal profession and contributions to the Commonwealth.
