SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2048
Commending the American Progressive Telugu Association.
Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026
WHEREAS, the American Progressive Telugu Association is a nonprofit organization that promotes Telugu language and culture and provides opportunities for networking and community service among the Telugu diaspora in the Commonwealth and across the United States; and
WHEREAS, founded in 2008 in Kansas, the American Progressive Telugu Association has grown to include approximately 27,000 members representing more than 9,000 families nationwide; and
WHEREAS, the American Progressive Telugu Association is deeply committed to community service, and its members have organized more than 250 blood donation drives across the Commonwealth and throughout the United States in collaboration with the American Red Cross; and
WHEREAS, the American Progressive Telugu Association has also partnered with the nonprofit organization DKMS to conduct stem cell donor registration drives; and
WHEREAS, the American Progressive Telugu Association promotes youth mentorship through educational initiatives in Loudoun County and across Virginia, offering career guidance programs and professional development opportunities; the organization has contributed approximately $2.5 million to support more than 10,000 underprivileged students; and
WHEREAS, the American Progressive Telugu Association maintains food donation drives and organizes other outreach programs to better support both members and the broader community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the American Progressive Telugu Association hereby be commended for its contributions to the Telugu diaspora and service to communities throughout the Commonwealth; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the American Progressive Telugu Association as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the organization's legacy of achievements.
