SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2030

Commending Henry Michael Sawyer.



Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Henry Michael Sawyer, a member of Scouting America Troop 2886 in Chesterfield County, earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank bestowed by Scouting America, on April 15, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Henry Michael Sawyer has exemplified the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law and demonstrated exceptional leadership, character, personal responsibility, and dedication to serving others throughout his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, for his Eagle Scout service project, Henry Michael Sawyer partnered with Soar365 at Camp Baker in Chesterfield County to create and equip both indoor and outdoor activity carts for adults with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, to successfully complete his service project, Henry Michael Sawyer conducted extensive research, consulted with special education professionals, and thoughtfully developed activity resources designed to promote engagement, inclusion, dignity, and enjoyment for individuals with disabilities, creating a lasting benefit to the community; and

WHEREAS, Henry Michael Sawyer is currently working toward his emergency medical technician certification and plans to pursue a career in medicine as an emergency room physician, carrying forward the same spirit of compassion and service that defined his years as a scout; and

WHEREAS, through his achievements, community service, and unwavering commitment to helping others, Henry Michael Sawyer has distinguished himself as an outstanding young leader and role model; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Henry Michael Sawyer hereby be commended for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Henry Michael Sawyer as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth and his community.
