Commending Janice Edwards-Dalton.

WHEREAS, Janice Edwards-Dalton, an esteemed education administrator and principal at Laurel Hill Elementary School in Lorton, is retiring from public education after 31 years; and
WHEREAS, Janice Edwards-Dalton began her career as an educator in 1995 in Loudoun County and transferred to Fairfax County Public Schools four years later; she has been the principal of Laurel Hill Elementary School since 2015; and
WHEREAS, Janice Edwards-Dalton works tirelessly to foster an educational environment that supports continuous learning and encourages all students to innovate, grow, and thrive; and
WHEREAS, Janice Edwards-Dalton has excelled as an education administrator by cultivating strong bonds and meaningful relationships with all members of the Laurel Hill Elementary School community, including through active engagement with the school's parent teacher association and by working closely with each member of the school's faculty; and
WHEREAS, Janice Edwards-Dalton recognizes every student's full potential and established the R.O.A.R. (Respect, Ownership, Attitude, and Responsibility) code to motivate students to take an active role in their academic, social, and emotional development; and
WHEREAS, in honor of her accomplishments as an educator, Janice Edwards-Dalton was named Fairfax County Public Schools' 2026 Outstanding Principal Finalist for Region 4 and Laurel Hill Elementary School was presented the Department of Education's Continuous Improvement Exemplar Award during her tenure; and
WHEREAS, with great leadership, integrity, and compassion, Janice Edwards-Dalton has embodied the ideals of the education profession throughout her career, earning the praise and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Janice Edwards-Dalton hereby be commended for her exemplary service on the occasion of her retirement as principal of Laurel Hill Elementary School; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Janice Edwards-Dalton as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
