Commending David A. Hunn.

WHEREAS, David A. Hunn, founding president and chief executive officer of The SkillSource Group, Inc., and executive director of Virginia Career Works – Northern Region, who has dedicated more than 40 years to public service, will retire in June 2026; and

WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, David Hunn has devoted himself to improving the Commonwealth's economic competitiveness by connecting individuals to meaningful employment opportunities and helping employers develop the skilled workforce necessary to succeed in a changing economy; and

WHEREAS, since 2002, David Hunn has served as the founding president and chief executive officer of The SkillSource Group and executive director of Virginia Career Works – Northern Region, building a nationally acclaimed, employer-driven workforce system that serves more than two million residents and tens of thousands of businesses across Northern Virginia; and

WHEREAS, under David Hunn's leadership, Virginia Career Works – Northern Region has become a vital part of the Commonwealth's workforce system, providing valuable services, education, employment assistance, and training to more than 45,000 prospective employees while responding to the evolving demands of high-growth industries and regional employers; and

WHEREAS, David Hunn champions a data-informed approach to workforce strategy and cultivates strong collaborations and partnerships with businesses, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies to develop and implement effective workforce training initiatives; and

WHEREAS, David Hunn is committed to expanding opportunity to all Virginians, creating life-changing pathways to employment and economic mobility for low-income and low-skilled adults and youth, individuals with disabilities, veterans, entrepreneurs, formerly incarcerated individuals, and other people facing barriers to employment; and

WHEREAS, David Hunn also served as the founding director of the Northern Virginia Regional Partnership and as deputy director for operations and administration for Fairfax County's Department of Family Services, helping to meet the economic, workforce, and basic living needs of vulnerable community residents; and

WHEREAS, through his vision, leadership, and commitment to excellence, David Hunn has made a powerful and enduring impact on Virginia's workforce system and helped position the Commonwealth for prosperity for generations to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That David A. Hunn, founding president and chief executive officer of The SkillSource Group, Inc., and executive director of Virginia Career Works – Northern Region, hereby be commended for his extraordinary leadership and service on the occasion of his retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to David A. Hunn as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes upon his retirement.
