Celebrating the life of Bernice Milligan Shick.

WHEREAS, Bernice Milligan Shick, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and beloved member of the Loudoun County community, died on February 11, 2026; and

WHEREAS, a native of Juneau, Alaska, Bernice “Bunny” Milligan Shick devoted many years to raising her children and supporting her husband, Rear Admiral George B. Shick, Jr., as his naval career took them to many places around the world; and

WHEREAS, Bunny Shick later fulfilled a lifelong dream by settling in Aldie and owning a horse farm, where she took great delight in riding and sharing her love of horses with her family; and

WHEREAS, Bunny Shick supported the well-being of others by giving generously of her time with Sprout Therapeutic Riding Center in Aldie; and

WHEREAS, Bunny Shick was a lifelong exercise enthusiast who remained active into her 90s and who was a regular member at Native Barre Studios in Middleburg; and

WHEREAS, guided throughout life by her faith, Bunny Shick enjoyed worship and fellowship with her communities at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Middleburg and Trinity Episcopal Church in Upperville; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, George, Bunny Shick will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by her children, Mary Ann, Beverly, and George, and their families and by numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Bernice Milligan Shick, a treasured member of the Loudoun County community whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Bernice Milligan Shick as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
