Commending the Honorable Stacey W. Moreau.

WHEREAS, the Honorable Stacey W. Moreau, judge of the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit Court serving Danville, Pittsylvania County, and Franklin County, retired from the bench on December 31, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Moreau graduated from Randolph-Macon College before earning her juris doctor degree from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1990; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Moreau served briefly as an associate with the firm of Williams, Stilwell and Morrison, then in the law office of Glen D. Vamvoras for three years, before returning to her first firm as a partner, which became Williams, Morrison, Light and Moreau, where she worked from 1994 to 2003; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Moreau was appointed to serve as a judge with the Twenty-Second Judicial District Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in 2003, then nine years later was appointed to the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit Court; and

WHEREAS, over her more than 22 years on the bench, including as chief judge, Stacey Moreau worked tirelessly to ensure justice and fairness before the law for all parties that came before her; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Moreau devoted herself to the advancement of the practice of the law through her involvement with several judicial committees and organizations, including the Judicial Council of Virginia, the Judicial Conference of Virginia for District Courts, and the Virginia Criminal Sentencing Commission; and

WHEREAS, Stacey Moreau was instrumental to the establishment of the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit Court's drug treatment court initiative, which has helped numerous defendants receive the treatment and care they need to reorient their lives and become productive members of the community; and

WHEREAS, beyond the bench, Stacey Moreau has given generously of her time for the benefit of others with the Chatham Rotary Club, the Mount Cross Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department Board of Directors, and the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church in Danville; and

WHEREAS, through her commitment to excellence as a judge and community leader, Stacey Moreau has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Honorable Stacey W. Moreau, judge of the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit Court, hereby be commended on the occasion of her retirement as a judge; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Honorable Stacey W. Moreau as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her exemplary service and best wishes in her future endeavors.
