Commending the Lebanon High School baseball team.

WHEREAS, the Lebanon High School baseball team won the Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship at Kiwanis Park in Salem on June 13, 2026; and

WHEREAS, the Lebanon High School Pioneers defeated the Patrick County High School Cougars by a score of 5–2 to claim the program's first state title since 2023; and

WHEREAS, after opening the season with a record of 3–6, the Lebanon Pioneers regrouped and finished the year strong with a record of 21–8, including 15 consecutive wins to close the season; and

WHEREAS, trailing 2–1 going into the fourth inning of the state championship, the Lebanon Pioneers scored a pair of runs to take the lead, then tallied two insurance runs in the fifth inning to secure victory; and

WHEREAS, the Lebanon Pioneers were carried on the mound by Lake Baldwin, who struck out six batters and allowed only two runs on six hits over five innings pitched, and Issac Godsey, who recorded three clutch outs with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth inning to help seal the win; and

WHEREAS, the Lebanon Pioneers were led offensively in the contest by Brady Cole and Dawson Rasnake, who each had two hits, and Luke Garrett, who notched two runs-batted-in; and

WHEREAS, the triumphs of the Lebanon Pioneers are a testament to the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Lebanon High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Lebanon High School baseball team hereby be commended for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Cody Compton, coach of the Lebanon High School baseball team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
