Commending Jonathan C. Zur.

WHEREAS, over the course of nearly 20 years of distinguished leadership, Jonathan C. Zur has served as president and chief executive officer of the nonprofit Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities, touching countless lives through his work to promote understanding, mutual respect, and inclusion throughout the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Jonathan Zur joined the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities in 2006 and has transformed the organization by guiding significant growth in educational programs, leadership initiatives, and community engagement efforts to foster dialogue between people of different backgrounds, cultures, and faiths; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure as president and chief executive officer, Jonathan Zur has quadrupled the size of the organization's staff, tripled its budget, and increased the number of programs it delivers by 3,000 percent; and
WHEREAS, under Jonathan Zur's leadership, the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities has been recognized at the state and national levels for its effectiveness and commitment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, in 2016, Jonathan Zur served as a speaker at the inaugural White House Summit on Diversity and Inclusion in Government, and in 2017, he was appointed by the governor to the Commonwealth Commission on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; and
WHEREAS, Jonathan Zur previously served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Virginia Commission on African American History Education, the Virginia Complete Count Commission, and the Virginia Task Force on Culturally Inclusive School Meals and Calendars; and
WHEREAS, Jonathan Zur also serves as a trustee for the Richmond Memorial Health Foundation, a member of the Racial Equity Advisory Council for the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, and a member of the Multilingual Learner Success Advisory Council for Richmond Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, among many awards and accolades, Jonathan Zur has received the Martin Luther King, Jr., Drum Major for Justice Award, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Director's Community Leadership Award, and the Ukrop Community Vision Award from Leadership Metro Richmond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Jonathan C. Zur hereby be commended on his leadership journey and legacy as president and chief executive officer of the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jonathan C. Zur as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his commitment to inclusive leadership and lasting contributions to communities across the Commonwealth.
