Commending David Levi Moore.

WHEREAS, David Levi Moore, a highly admired farmer and public servant in Charlotte County, celebrated his 100th birthday in 2026; and

WHEREAS, born on June 13, 1926, David Moore grew up in Cullen on the family farm he still owns and manages; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Central High School in Charlotte Court House, David Moore served the nation as a member of the United States Army from 1945 to 1947, then earned a bachelor's degree in education from Virginia State University in 1951; and

WHEREAS, over the next 35 years, David Moore mentored and inspired young people as a teacher and principal at schools in Charlotte County and Campbell County; he was a champion of lifelong learning and went on to receive a master's degree in education from Longwood University in 1970; and

WHEREAS, David Moore also safeguarded local residents as a member of the Charlotte County Volunteer Rescue Squad for more than 20 years, touching countless lives through his professionalism and dedication to helping those in need; and

WHEREAS, desirous to be of further service to his community, David Moore ran for and was elected to the Charlotte County Board of Supervisors; during his tenure on the board from 1984 to 2004, he played an instrumental role in supporting local economic development and led efforts to enhance funding for public schools and the Charlotte County Volunteer Rescue Squad; and

WHEREAS, David Moore has been a member of Saint Andrews Baptist Church in Cullen for his entire life and has held a wide range of leadership positions there, including deacon, trustee, and Sunday school teacher; and

WHEREAS, a tireless volunteer, David Moore has provided his leadership and expertise to Crossroads Community Services Board, the NAACP, Piedmont Senior Resources, Inc., Charlotte County Christmas Parents, Inc., and the Virginia Pork Council, as well as to Meals on Wheels, with which he remains currently active; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That David Levi Moore hereby be commended on the occasion of his 100th birthday in 2026; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to David Levi Moore as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his personal and professional achievements and contributions to the Charlotte County community.
