Commending the James Madison High School tennis program.

WHEREAS, in 2026, the James Madison High School tennis program earned multiple state championships, with the boys' tennis team securing the team state title and members of both the boys' and girls' teams winning individual state titles; and
WHEREAS, the James Madison High School boys' tennis team won its first-ever Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 6 state team championship on June 13, 2026, defeating longtime rival Langley High School in a commanding 5–0 shutout performance; and
WHEREAS, the elite duo of Lucas Albisu and Caleb Vargas captured the 2026 VHSL Class 6 boys' individual doubles state title for the James Madison High School Warhawks; and
WHEREAS, the James Madison High School girls' tennis team demonstrated elite athletic resolve, advancing dynamically through the tournament field to finish as the VHSL Class 6 state runner-up; and
WHEREAS, James Madison's Gabriela Hernandez captured the 2026 VHSL Class 6 girls' individual singles state title with a dominant 6–1, 6–2 victory in the state final; and
WHEREAS, the phenomenal pairing of Gabriela Hernandez and Katie Hilton secured additional hardware for the program by winning the 2026 VHSL Class 6 girls' individual doubles state title in straight sets with a 6–2, 6–4 victory; and
WHEREAS, the James Madison Warhawks' triumphs reflect the unyielding dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship of the student-athletes, the exceptional leadership of the coaching staff, and the vibrant support of the entire Vienna community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the James Madison High School tennis program hereby be commended on winning multiple state titles in 2026; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the principal of James Madison High School as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the James Madison High School tennis program's success.
