Commending Reginald Davenport.

WHEREAS, Reginald Davenport, a distinguished educator and school administrator in Henrico County, retired as principal of Glen Allen High School after nine years of leadership; and
WHEREAS, a native of Emporia, Reginald Davenport holds degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Virginia; he began his 32-year career in education in 1994, teaching physics and electronics at the Maggie L. Walker Governor's School for Government and International Studies and John Randolph Tucker High School; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure at John Randolph Tucker High School, Reginald Davenport also served as chair of the science department and an administrative aide until he was selected as an assistant principal in 2002; and
WHEREAS, Reginald Davenport subsequently became the first associate principal of Glen Allen High School when it opened in 2010, then was selected as principal of the school in 2017; and
WHEREAS, as principal, Reginald Davenport oversaw all school operations, ensuring that teachers had the tools and support they needed to create an academic environment in which students could achieve their fullest potential; and
WHEREAS, demonstrating visionary leadership, Reginald Davenport developed and implemented annual operating plans, improvement plans, and school budgets; in addition to supervising the administrative team, he worked directly with other staff members and parents to coordinate school activities and events, and he served as coordinator for programs related to Title IX and the Office for Civil Rights; and
WHEREAS, over the course of his career, Reginald Davenport was committed to creating new educational opportunities and inspiring young people to become lifelong learners and leaders in their communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Reginald Davenport hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement as principal of Glen Allen High School in 2026; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Reginald Davenport as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his accomplishments on behalf of young people in Henrico County and his contributions to secondary education in the Commonwealth.
