Commending the Central Virginia Transportation Authority.

WHEREAS, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority was established by the General Assembly of Virginia in 2020 to help meet the transportation needs of Central Virginia through a dedicated, regionally focused funding structure; and
WHEREAS, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority serves the Richmond region and provides an important framework through which local governments and regional partners can work together to advance transportation improvements that enhance mobility, accessibility, safety, economic development, and quality of life; and
WHEREAS, by leveraging regional sales and gas tax revenues, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority has strengthened the region's ability to plan for the future, prioritize transportation investments, and direct more than $1.1 billion in support to projects of both local and regional importance; and
WHEREAS, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority has provided vital support for public transportation in Central Virginia through its contributions to the Greater Richmond Transit Company, helping sustain and advance transit and mobility services that connect residents to employment, education, health care, and other essential destinations; and
WHEREAS, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority's local funding allocations have provided important direct resources to its member jurisdictions, enabling counties, cities, and towns to address over 200 locally identified transportation needs, improve infrastructure, and make meaningful investments in their communities; and
WHEREAS, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority has also demonstrated regional leadership through its funding of more than 75 regionally significant transportation projects, using an objective and competitive process to advance high-impact investments that improve multimodal connectivity and support the long-term prosperity of Central Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority has helped foster stronger regional collaboration by bringing together local elected officials and transportation stakeholders to identify shared priorities and pursue solutions that benefit the entire region; and
WHEREAS, through responsible stewardship of public funds and a sustained commitment to long-range transportation planning, the Central Virginia Transportation Authority has become an essential partner in shaping a more connected and resilient future for Central Virginia; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Central Virginia Transportation Authority hereby be commended for its outstanding work to improve transportation in Central Virginia and for its significant contributions to public transportation, local transportation funding, and regionally significant transportation projects on the occasion of its fifth anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Central Virginia Transportation Authority as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the authority's service to the Commonwealth and the residents of Central Virginia.
