Commending Sister To Sister.

WHEREAS, for more than 30 years, Sister To Sister, an organization dedicated to building healthier communities by empowering youth and families, has achieved its mission by helping countless young people reach their potential academically, behaviorally, and socially; and
WHEREAS, guided by the organization's motto, “Each One Teach One,” Sister To Sister encourages participants to share their knowledge and skills, fostering an environment that instills the values of self-respect, self-worth, self-love, and self-betterment; and
WHEREAS, Sister To Sister exposes young people to enriching activities at libraries, museums, historical sites, and national parks, as well as a variety of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics programs, promoting well-rounded personal development and encouraging participants to embrace their abilities as leaders, critical thinkers, and problem solvers; and
WHEREAS, in 2018, Sister To Sister opened its first resource center, where it provides workshops for women, computer literacy classes for all ages, job readiness training, parenting classes, anger management support programs, and health and wellness education, as well as a food pantry, bread ministry, and various assistance programs for the homeless; and
WHEREAS, Sister To Sister exemplifies how targeted efforts in empowerment and education can positively transform lives and communities, heralding a brighter future for the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Sister To Sister hereby be commended for its legacy of service in pursuit of its mission; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sister To Sister as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's contributions to the Commonwealth.
