Commending Bishop A. D. Cunningham.

WHEREAS, since 2023, Bishop A. D. Cunningham has provided exceptional leadership to the United House of Prayer for All People, an Apostolic church based in Washington, D.C., with congregations throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, a native of Brooklyn, New York, A. D. Cunningham served as a deacon in Boston, Massachusetts, in his youth, then answered the call to the ministry in the early 1980s and pastored churches in Washington, D.C., and North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, in 2010, A. D. Cunningham began serving as pastor of the national headquarters of the United House of Prayer for All People; he also held leadership positions as a secretary of the church's General Assembly, a member of its General Council, head judge within the church, and a member of committees focused on youth and constitutional review; and

WHEREAS, after the passing of the previous bishop of the United House of Prayer for All People, A. D. Cunningham served as acting chief executive officer until he was overwhelmingly elected as the new bishop on October 13, 2023; and

WHEREAS, since that time, A. D. Cunningham has overseen the operations of more than 137 congregations, representing tens of thousands of members in 29 states; he also served as chief executive officer and sole trustee of the church's holdings; and

WHEREAS, through his visionary leadership, A. D. Cunningham has helped the United House of Prayer for All People fulfill its mission to establish, maintain, and perpetuate Christianity and the Apostolic faith and bring hope and fellowship to communities in need throughout the Commonwealth and the United States; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Bishop A. D. Cunningham hereby be commended for his service as chief executive officer and national leader of the United House of Prayer for All People; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bishop A. D. Cunningham as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his legacy of achievements as a spiritual leader.
