Commending Marni Pilafian.

WHEREAS, Marni Pilafian is an esteemed law professor, entrepreneur, and civic leader who has greatly served the Chesterfield County community for many years; and

WHEREAS, Marni Pilafian earned degrees in law, education, and education leadership and worked for several years as a law professor, helping future generations of attorneys achieve success in their practices and careers; and

WHEREAS, with a thorough understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations, Marni Pilafian has been an invaluable resource for advocacy efforts at every level of government, including at the General Assembly of Virginia and before the Chesterfield County School Board and the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, Marni Pilafian has provided exemplary educational leadership over the years, including as the chairperson of the Chesterfield Innovative Academy for Girls and as a member of a number of education and nonprofit advisory boards in South Florida; and

WHEREAS, Marni Pilafian has given abundantly of her time to make a difference in the lives of others, volunteering as a trustee of her church, a member of the Virginia Commonwealth University Friends of the Library, and the secretary of the Chesterfield County Democratic Committee; and

WHEREAS, Marni Pilafian has advanced a number of meaningful environmental initiatives in Chesterfield County and the Woodlake community as cofounder of the Swift Creek Nature Club and chairperson of the Woodlake Environmental and Maintenance Committee; and

WHEREAS, in 2019, Marni Pilafian established the co-working space Perch at Pocoshock in Chesterfield County, where she has generously provided favorable rates to local nonprofits, minority-owned businesses, and candidates for public office to support their efforts to make a positive impact on the community; and

WHEREAS, as an exemplar of servant leadership, Marni Pilafian has played a vital role in making Chesterfield County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Marni Pilafian, a distinguished member of the Chesterfield County community, hereby be commended for her unwavering dedication and legacy of service; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Marni Pilafian as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to Chesterfield County and the Commonwealth.
