Commending Madeline Duffy.

WHEREAS, Madeline Duffy, a distinguished special education educator at Nottoway High School, was named the 2027 Virginia Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Madeline Duffy is a proud graduate of Nottoway County Public Schools and has devoted several years as an educator to the school division that molded her into the leader she is today; and

WHEREAS, in her role as a special education educator, Madeline Duffy strives to foster a learning environment that nurtures her students' abilities and talents and supports their academic, social, and emotional well-being; and

WHEREAS, through initiatives such as the Cougar Café, Madeline Duffy has gone the extra mile to create engaging, real-world experiences for her students, helping them to develop workplace and life skills that will enable them to succeed; and

WHEREAS, Madeline Duffy has cultivated many deep and meaningful relationships with students, faculty, and families in the Nottoway High School community, enhancing her ability to make an impact as an educator; and

WHEREAS, Madeline Duffy has connected her students with various opportunities in the community, instilling in them a sense of confidence and independence that will ease their transition to life after school; and

WHEREAS, both as Nottoway High School's dropout prevention coordinator and its assistant softball coach, Madeline Duffy works tirelessly to inspire her students to aim high and to achieve their dreams both in and out of the classroom; and

WHEREAS, Madeline Duffy's achievements as an educator are a reflection of her commitment to the students and families she serves and have earned her the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Madeline Duffy hereby be commended on her selection as the 2027 Virginia Teacher of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Madeline Duffy as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's appreciation for her exemplary service to the Commonwealth.
