HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2039
Commending the Lebanon High School speech team.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 23, 2026
WHEREAS, the Lebanon High School speech team won the Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship at Salem High School on March 28, 2026; and
WHEREAS, the Lebanon High School Pioneers had all 14 of its entrants in the state tournament medal in their events, a historic achievement that secured the program's fifth consecutive state championship title; and
WHEREAS, the Lebanon Pioneers saw Alexis Potts, Brock Keen, and Chloee Dillon claim individual state champion titles in prose, impromptu speaking, and serious dramatic interpretation, respectively; and
WHEREAS, the Lebanon Pioneers also benefited from the efforts of Kali Saltz, Landon Owens, Sara Griffith, Ali Beck, Ethan Powers, Autumn Brickman, and Lilly Garrett, who finished runner-up in their events, as well the performances of Abby Amos, Olivia Sizemore, Lily Webster, and Mercedes Raguz, who placed third in their events; and
WHEREAS, the Lebanon Pioneers were consistent throughout the season, winning their regional and super-regional competitions on the way to the state championship title; and
WHEREAS, the success of the Lebanon Pioneers is the result of the talent and dedication of its members, the leadership and guidance of their coach and teachers, and the unwavering support of their families and the entire Lebanon High School community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Lebanon High School speech team hereby be commended for winning the 2026 Virginia High School League Class 2 state championship; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Sarah Stoots, coach of the Lebanon High School speech team, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's achievement and best wishes for the program's continued success.
