HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2026

Commending Abigail Marapau.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, April 23, 2026

WHEREAS, Abigail Marapau, an esteemed teacher with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, was named Indian Lakes Elementary School's Teacher of the Year for 2026; and

WHEREAS, Abigail Marapau works tirelessly to create a learning environment that supports her students' needs and enables them to thrive; and

WHEREAS, one of Abigail Marapau's greatest strengths as an educator is her ability to forge relationships and bonds with her students and colleagues, while also helping her students better connect with one another; and

WHEREAS, with steadfast dedication to her students' well-being, Abigail Marapau devotes time to recognizing and addressing the issues impacting her students, building their trust and improving their educational outcomes; and

WHEREAS, with great compassion and a desire to help others, Abigail Marapau has embodied the ideals of the education profession, helping to make Virginia Beach a more wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Abigail Marapau hereby be commended for being named the 2026 Indian Lakes Elementary School Teacher of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Abigail Marapau as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her contributions to the growth and development of young people in the Commonwealth.
