SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2009

Commending the Carrsville Ruritan Club.



Agreed to by the Senate, April 23, 2026

WHEREAS, for 80 years, the Carrsville Ruritan Club has been a pillar of servant leadership in Carrsville and Isle of Wight County, advancing the Ruritan ideals of fellowship, goodwill, and community service, while addressing local needs and strengthening the civic fabric of the region; and

WHEREAS, the Carrsville Ruritan Club was established in April 1946 as a chapter of Ruritan National and was organized by members of the Farmers Club of Carrsville; the Ruritan movement has deep roots in the region, and the first Ruritan club in the United States was founded in the nearby community of Holland, now part of Suffolk; and

WHEREAS, the Carrsville Ruritan Club has played an important role in the growth and development of Carrsville and Isle of Wight County; members of the club were instrumental in organizing and supporting the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department in 1957, demonstrating their commitment to public safety and service to others; and

WHEREAS, throughout its history, the Carrsville Ruritan Club has been a part of Holland District Ruritans, Zone 5, and generations of local families have donated their time and talents to uphold the club's long-standing traditions of volunteerism and neighborly outreach; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That the Carrsville Ruritan Club hereby be commended on the occasion of its 80th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Carrsville Ruritan Club as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the club's long history and legacy of service to the residents of Carrsville and Isle of Wight County.
