Commending Rickey Dandridge.

WHEREAS, Rickey Dandridge, a distinguished law-enforcement officer and major with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office, will retire on April 30, 2026; and
WHEREAS, Rickey Dandridge began his law-enforcement career with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) in September 1981 as a deputy in the Patrol Division and later worked as an undercover vice and narcotics officer with the Investigative Division and as a school resource officer; and
WHEREAS, as a result of his hard work and professionalism, Rickey Dandridge steadily rose through the ranks, becoming a sergeant in 1994, command sergeant in 1997, lieutenant in 2003, captain in 2010, and major in 2020; and
WHEREAS, Rickey Dandridge later also served with the Administrative Division and as captain of Special Operations, giving him the distinction of serving in every division of HCSO over his illustrious career; and
WHEREAS, Rickey Dandridge played a vital role in researching and implementing the records management system, mobile computer-aided dispatch technology, and mobile field reporting system that HCSO depends on to fulfill its mission to this day; and
WHEREAS, a graduate of the former St. Paul's College and J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, Rickey Dandridge has attended several specialized supervisory training schools over the years to enhance his abilities as a law-enforcement officer and leader; and
WHEREAS, Rickey Dandridge has been presented many awards and accolades in recognition of his exemplary service, including the Officer of the Year award in 1990, the Bronze Valor Award in 2001, and the Excellent Service Award in 2025; and
WHEREAS, Rickey Dandridge has made a meaningful impact through his involvement with a number of local and professional organizations, such as Special Olympics Virginia, Crime Stoppers, the Mechanicsville Ruritan Club, and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives; and
WHEREAS, through his leadership and dedication, Rickey Dandridge has promoted public safety and ensured the well-being of Hanover County and its residents, earning the respect and esteem of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Rickey Dandridge, a major with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office, hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Rickey Dandridge as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to Hanover County and the Commonwealth and best wishes upon his retirement.
