Celebrating the life of Travis Hooker.

WHEREAS, Travis Hooker, an devoted educator and an inspirational coach who helped countless young people in Southwest Virginia achieve their fullest potential, died on March 15, 2026; and

WHEREAS, a lifelong resident of Bristol, Travis Hooker worked at Lebanon High School in Russell County for two decades and was best known in the community as “Coach Hook” for his leadership of the school's basketball, cross county, and track and field teams; and

WHEREAS, Travis Hooker demonstrated genuine care for every student he met, and he was a trusted mentor who took great pride in guiding young people both in and out of the classroom; and

WHEREAS, Travis Hooker had a gift for building strong connections with people and making everyone he encountered feel valued, traits that served him well in his work at The Olde Farm golf club in Washington County, where he was known for creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere; and

WHEREAS, Travis Hooker brought joy to others through his loyalty, generosity, and kindness; he built a legacy of excellence at Lebanon High School and strengthened the sense of community throughout the region through his personal and professional achievements; and

WHEREAS, predeceased by his father, Barry, Travis Hooker will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his mother, Betty; his sister, Stephanie, and her family; and numerous other family members, friends, and former students; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Travis Hooker, a highly admired teacher and coach in Southwest Virginia; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Travis Hooker as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
