Commending Land of Promise Church.

WHEREAS, for 30 years, Land of Promise Church in Spotsylvania County has greatly served the community by providing uplifting spiritual guidance, joyous occasions for worship and fellowship, and meaningful opportunities for charitable outreach; and
WHEREAS, Land of Promise Church was founded on April 7, 1996, by Dr. James Edward King, a native of Portsmouth who earned his doctor of ministry degree from the Howard University School of Divinity; and
WHEREAS, throughout his tenure as pastor of Land of Promise Church, James King has been a prominent voice in the Spotsylvania County community and a steadfast advocate for criminal justice, education, and other causes; and
WHEREAS, Land of Promise Church's current house of worship was dedicated on March 20, 2005, and the church has also operated out of an additional satellite location in Stafford since 2019, under the guidance of site pastor Chuck Overton; and
WHEREAS, Land of Promise Church supports a wide array of ministries that deepens its members' faith and strengthens their connections to God, their congregation, and their community; and
WHEREAS, by serving as a beacon of hope, faith, and love, Land of Promise Church has helped to make Spotsylvania County a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Land of Promise Church hereby be commended for its legacy of service on the occasion of its 30th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Land of Promise Church as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the church's contributions to Spotsylvania County and the Commonwealth.
