Commending the Omicron Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

WHEREAS, the Omicron Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., has a decades-long history of generous outreach and volunteer service in Fredericksburg and the Rappahannock region; and
WHEREAS, originally established in 1984, Omicron Alpha Lambda was officially chartered in 1985 as an alumni chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the first intercollegiate Greek organization for African American men; and
WHEREAS, Omicron Alpha Lambda proudly serves the City of Fredericksburg and the surrounding Counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford through mentorship programs and service initiatives that benefit the community; and
WHEREAS, Omicron Alpha Lambda is dedicated to cultivating leadership, fostering brotherhood, and promoting academic excellence, all while remaining steadfast to the mission and goals of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Omicron Alpha Lambda is active in service initiatives, including the Brother's Keepers Program, voter education and assistance for emerging leaders, the Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College mentoring program, Project Alpha, and Read Across America; Omicron Alpha Lambda has also partnered with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., to pack over 600 food bags for community members in need in the Rappahannock area; and
WHEREAS, throughout its history, Omicron Alpha Lambda and its members have touched countless lives in the region and strengthened the community as a whole through these and a host of other programs; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Omicron Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., hereby be commended for its decades-long history of outreach and volunteer service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Omicron Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the chapter's legacy of service to the community.
