HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 374

Commending the Bruton High School girls' swim and dive team.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 11, 2026

WHEREAS, on February 18, 2026, the Bruton High School girls' swim and dive team of York County secured its fifth consecutive state title with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 1/2 state championship; and

WHEREAS, over the past five seasons, members of the Bruton High School Panthers have broken nine team records and two state records; and

WHEREAS, at the state championship meet in 2026, the Bruton Panthers defeated talented athletes from 27 other teams and won the state title by a wide margin; and

WHEREAS, through countless hours of practice, discipline, and perseverance, the Bruton Panthers demonstrated exceptional skill, sportsmanship, and determination throughout the season, culminating in a championship performance on the Commonwealth's largest competitive stage; and

WHEREAS, the success of the Bruton Panthers reflects positively upon Bruton High School, the York County School Division, and the broader community, serving as a source of pride and inspiration for students, families, and residents alike; and

WHEREAS, by securing a fifth state championship, the Bruton Panthers have established a lasting legacy of achievement that exemplifies the values of hard work, teamwork, resilience, and excellence that high school athletics seek to promote; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Bruton High School girls' swim and dive team hereby be commended on winning its fifth consecutive Virginia High School League Class 1/2 state championship in 2026; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Bruton High School girls' swim and dive team as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the team's outstanding achievement and best wishes for continued success in future seasons.
