HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 178

Commending Caboose Brewing Company & Tavern.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, March 2, 2026

WHEREAS, the McLaughlin and Greer families entered the world of craft beer brewing on May 5, 2015, with the opening of Caboose Brewing Company & Tavern in Vienna, bringing new energy and purpose to the local business and community landscape; and

WHEREAS, Caboose Brewing Company's name pays tribute to Vienna's historic red caboose and the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad line that runs through the town, honoring the community's rich transportation and industrial heritage; and

WHEREAS, inspired by the national rails to trails movement, the McLaughlin and Greer families envisioned revitalizing remnants of Vienna's past as an industrial hub into a vibrant gathering place that would serve and strengthen the community; and

WHEREAS, this vision expanded in September 2018 with the opening of Caboose Commons, a thoughtfully restored historic space that introduced a unique coffeehouse and brewery hybrid, welcoming early-morning patrons and continuing into the evening while upholding the same values of community, inclusion, and connection that have defined Caboose Brewing Company from its inception; and

WHEREAS, Caboose Brewing Company has consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence that extends beyond providing quality food and beverages by creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space where guests and employees can share experiences, exchange ideas, and cultivate a strong sense of community; and

WHEREAS, Caboose Brewing Company has been a steadfast supporter of local businesses and nonprofit organizations through community engagement, sponsorships, partnerships, and charitable contributions; and

WHEREAS, among its many community-focused efforts, Caboose Brewing Company has proudly supported Virginia Youth Soccer's TOPSoccer program, which provides children with developmental and physical disabilities the opportunity to participate in organized soccer in a supportive and empowering environment at Freedom Hill Elementary School during the fall and spring seasons; and

WHEREAS, the TOPSoccer program has had a meaningful and lasting impact on children and their families by fostering inclusion, confidence, teamwork, and joy, reflecting the very values that Caboose Brewing Company strives to uphold within the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Caboose Brewing Company & Tavern hereby be commended on the occasion of its 10th anniversary for its dedication to historic preservation and unwavering commitment to community enrichment; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Caboose Brewing Company & Tavern as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its ongoing efforts to serve, strengthen, and uplift the members of the Vienna community.
