HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 293
Commending Jaunt.

WHEREAS, Jaunt, a regional transportation system serving Charlottesville and Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and Buckingham Counties, celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2025; and
WHEREAS, Jaunt's transportation system carries the general public, agency clients, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities to work, school, doctor visits, family outings, and other important occasions; and
WHEREAS, by providing convenient, reliable, and affordable transportation services, Jaunt has facilitated its riders' mobility and independence and helped them to remain connected to their communities; and
WHEREAS, Jaunt offers curb-to-curb demand response service, commuter fixed-route service, and Americans with Disabilities Act paratransit service to accommodate the needs of all riders; and
WHEREAS, operating as a public service corporation, Jaunt is jointly owned by the localities it serves and is supported with financial assistance from community partnerships, federal and state transit grants, and local government funds; and
WHEREAS, today, Jaunt has upwards of 90 transit vehicles and its hardworking drivers cover approximately two million miles and complete more than 330,000 regional passenger trips annually; and
WHEREAS, with an unwavering commitment to the citizens and communities it serves, Jaunt has helped to make Central Virginia a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Jaunt on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Jaunt as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for its contributions to the Commonwealth.
