HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 215

Commending NEST4US.

WHEREAS, for 10 years, the nonprofit organization NEST4US has worked to make the world a better place by mobilizing volunteers to develop and implement equitable solutions to a wide range of societal issues, including education, hunger, poverty, mental health, social injustice, and climate change, among others; and

WHEREAS, founded by Shreyaa Venkat and Esha Venkat with a simple goal to help people in need, NEST4US has grown into a global movement powered by more than 9,000 volunteers around the world that has enhanced the lives of tens of thousands of individuals; and

WHEREAS, guided by its core values of kindness, service, passion, inclusivity, integrity, and unity, NEST4US not only supplies critical resources, including nutritious meals, hygiene products, academic materials, and other daily necessities, but also cultivates social awareness through professional development and virtual engagement opportunities; and

WHEREAS, over the course of its history, NEST4US has served more than 350,000 meals, rescued more than four million pounds of surplus food, donated more than 40,000 books, assembled more than 90,000 blessing bags, and delivered more than 125,000 kindness notes; the organization's programs have touched the lives of more than 100,000 young people around the world; and

WHEREAS, NEST4US has achieved its mission through the hard work of its volunteers, critical support from partner organizations, and generous donations from sponsors and donors; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend NEST4US on the occasion of its 10th anniversary of service, impact, and collective action; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Shreyaa Venkat and Esha Venkat, founders of NEST4US as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's work to build a more compassionate and inclusive society throughout the Commonwealth and around the world.
