HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 156
Commending RADAR Transit.

WHEREAS, for 50 years, RADAR Transit, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to providing public, specialized, and coordinated transportation that is safe, dependable, and cost-effective, has greatly served the Greater Roanoke Valley community; and
WHEREAS, through rural public transit services and specialized transit programs, RADAR meets the needs of its riders, enhancing people's lives by giving them greater access to their communities; and
WHEREAS, RADAR emphasizes safety, courtesy, quality, responsiveness, efficiency, and innovation as it strives to be a leading operator in a vital space in the Commonwealth's transportation network; and
WHEREAS, RADAR's ridership services touch every corner of the Roanoke Valley, with Valley Metro STAR and MetroFLX serving Roanoke, Vinton, and Salem; The Mountain Express serving Alleghany County, Covington, Clifton Forge, and Iron Gate; Piedmont Area Regional Transport serving Martinsville and Henry County; the Maury Express serving Buena Vista, Lexington, and Rockbridge County; and the College Express serving Ferrum College; and
WHEREAS, by providing individuals in need with safe, reliable, and affordable transportation, RADAR has helped to make the Greater Roanoke Valley a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend RADAR Transit on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to RADAR Transit as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the corporation's contributions to the Greater Roanoke Valley and the Commonwealth.
