SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 132

Commending Alyse Zeffiro.

Agreed to by the Senate, March 12, 2026

WHEREAS, Alyse Zeffiro, principal of Kerrydale Elementary School in Prince William County, received a National Distinguished Principal award from the National Association of Elementary School Principals in 2025; and

WHEREAS, the National Distinguished Principal awards program recognizes school administrators who make exceptional contributions to their school communities and have demonstrated outstanding adaptability and creativity in meeting the needs of their students; Alyse Zeffiro was one of only 43 principals across the nation to earn this prestigious honor; and

WHEREAS, Alyse Zeffiro became the principal of Kerrydale Elementary School in 2018 after years of service as a classroom teacher and assistant principal in Prince William County Public Schools; and

WHEREAS, under Alyse Zeffiro's leadership, Kerrydale Elementary School was named a Model Visible Learning School, a Virginia's Highest Achievement Exemplar School, and a National Title I Distinguished School for its work to close achievement gaps; and

WHEREAS, Alyse Zeffiro received the National Distinguished Principal award at the National Association of Elementary School Principals' annual awards banquet in Washington, D.C., on October 23–24, 2025; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Alyse Zeffiro hereby be commended on the occasion of her selection as a National Distinguished Principal in 2025; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Alyse Zeffiro as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her commitment to excellence in education.
